Welcome to the New York City Department of Education's online teacher application for the 2012-13 school year.
The Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality (TRQ) thanks you for your interest in teaching in New York City's public schools. Please be sure you have reviewed all information regarding the application process available on our website.
Before you begin your online teacher application, we suggest you prepare some information you will need to provide in advance. This includes:
- Details regarding your teaching and professional experience
- Supporting documentation to demonstrate you meet the certification requirements to teach in NY
- Academic history including GPA
- Three (3) professional references
- Current resume
- Well thought out responses to the two essay questions

If you have not already done so, please click on the "Register Now!" button and supply the requested information. During the registration step, you will define your user name (your email address) and password. Your email address will also be the primary means we use for contacting you so please check your inbox regularly, and check your junk mail or spam filter to make sure you are receiving emails from the NYC Department of Education (allow domains "@schools.nyc.gov" and "@nyc.teacherssupportnetwork.com").
While completing the application...
- There are many mandatory fields labeled with an asterisk (*).
- The average time to complete the online teacher application is approximately 45 minutes to one hour, if you prepare in advance the required information.
- You may stop, save, and return later to complete your application by clicking on "Save and Exit" once a section has been completed. The system will not record the information you entered unless either the "Save and Exit" or "Save and Continue" buttons are clicked.
- Make sure to review all information you entered in the "Preview" step before submitting your application. Once your application has been submitted, you will not be able to edit your responses to the essay questions or background questionnaire (most other data can be updated at any time by logging back into your application).
When you have completed all the required information and are ready to submit your online teacher application, click the "Complete" button to submit your application.

If you do not remember your password, use the "Forgot Password" link. Do not start a new application. Once logged in, click on the "Teacher" application link under "Existing Application".

Finally, remember to "SAVE AND EXIT" or "SAVE AND CONTINUE". Make sure to review all information you entered in the "PREVIEW" step before submitting your application. When you have completed all the required information ready and are ready to submit your online teacher application, click the "COMPLETE" button to submit your application.
