Senior Advisor to the Deputy Chancellor of School Leadership
Position Summary: The Senior Advisor to the Deputy Chancellor of School Leadership serves as a key member of the Deputy Chancellor of School Leadership’s leadership team and an active leader in establishing strategic plans and engaging prospective partners across all priority content areas, including instruction. The Senior Advisor will have primary responsibility for the strategy and implementation of all external engagement efforts. S/he will design and implement a comprehensive plan for developing and sustaining external partnerships and working closely with other members of the Department of Education (DOE) leadership to secure support for new initiatives. This role will help cultivate existing partnerships and forge new relationships that build the DOE’s visibility, impact, and financial resources. Performs related work.
Reports to: Deputy Chancellor of School Leadership
Direct Reports: Executive Assistant
Key Relationships: The Senior Advisor will work closely with the Deputy Chancellor of School Leadership’s leadership team; program partners; other City agencies; external partners.
Responsibilities
· Lead strategic planning on all major partnership initiatives, holding primary responsibility for external engagement with prospective partners. · Manage key existing relationships, and cultivate new relationships. · Develop and implement a comprehensive outreach strategy that includes corporate, foundation, and individual prospective partners. · Lead strategic planning for DOE’s strategic priorities, which includes making recommendations to the First Deputy Chancellor on the identification of priorities, specific targets and timetables. · Make recommendations to the Deputy Chancellor of School Leadership for long- and short-term organizational strategies. · Lead critical special strategic projects assigned by the Deputy Chancellor of School Leadership. · Network with borough and citywide agencies; educational institutions; nonprofit organizations; and private sector business interests for future program development in coordination with steering committee. · Establish, develop and manage critical partnerships to further My Brother's Keeper (MBK) and My Sister's Keeper (MSK) efforts. · Prepare and present periodic briefings and status updates to the Deputy Chancellor of School Leadership and steering committee relative to partnerships, progress, outreach, etc. · Assist with planning and facilitating Steering Committee meetings. · Assist in the coordination of collaborative events between NYCDOE entities and other agencies. · Assist with the development of an annual strategic plan and learning outcomes for MBK initiatives’ assessment. · Communicate the vision, objectives, values and importance of MBK/MSK to partners and potential partners as needed.
Qualification Requirements:
Minimum
Must currently possess or will possess by date of hire, New York State certification as a school district administrator (SDA) or school district leader (SDL). Please Note: We do not accept internship certificates.

· Demonstrated success in a development function; e.g., securing funding for priority projects, managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources. · Ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term partnerships. · Ability to develop and manage a diverse set of relationships with external partners. · Exceptional writing skills and ability to write for multiple audiences (policy-oriented, corporate, foundation, etc.) and create a variety of documents, including proposals, concept papers, memoranda, PowerPoint presentations, etc. · Extensive project management, including overseeing complex projects with sizeable budgets, diverse stakeholders, multiple work streams, and tight deadlines. · Creative and highly entrepreneurial individual who functions effectively in both independent and collaborative settings. · Strong strategic and analytical skills, and superior attention to detail. · Resourceful and proactive, with the ability to take initiative and to manage up and across. · Professionalism and diplomacy. · Appetite for fast-paced, high-volume work and the ability to pivot when needed.
Salary: $163,672+
