Executive Director of Clinical Practice, DIAL

 

 

Position Summary: The Executive Director of Clinical Practice will support the Division of Learning and Accessible Learning (DIAL) to develop sound evaluation practices that will lead to improved outcomes for students with disabilities. Reporting to the Chief of the Committees on Special Education (CSEs) and Preschool Special Education, the position will lead the development of new approaches to evaluation practices, with a focus on preschool and the CSEs. The role will also provide support to the CSE leadership team, ensuring the development of high-quality Individualized Education Service Plans (IESPs) and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The position will oversee the delivery of psychology services, review of student records, and advisement of IEP teams in making recommendations to ensure the appropriate delivery of services for students. The incumbent will serve as the senior advisor to CSE leadership on all clinical matters. Performs related work.

 

Reports to: Chief of CSEs and Preschool Special Education

 

Direct Reports: Implementation Manager

 

Key Relationships: Central SEO staff, CSEs, DIIT, Division of Early Childhood Education, Office of the General Counsel, Office of Non-Public School, Preschool Special Education Team and Office of Student Enrollment.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • In close consultation with the Chief of CSEs and Preschool Special Education, leads the development of all new initiatives to improve evaluation practices and IEP processes, with a focus on preschool. evaluations and evaluations for students served by the CSEs.
  • Engages a wide range of stakeholders to develop buy-in for new initiatives and to support implementation.
  • Advises leadership and collaborates across DIAL offices to improve the Kindergarten IEP Process.
  • Oversees improvements to the CSEs’ approach to IESP and IEP development, including development of and implementation of training for staff.
  • Leads professional development in clinical practices, as well as on family and school engagement around the IESP and IEP process.
  • Creates guidance documents and training for all clinical staff to ensure consistent, high-quality practice across the city.
  • Provides strategic case management and clinical support to CSEs Supervisors of Psychologists, CPSE administrators, and Preschool Regional Assessment Center teams.
  • Evaluates the quality of assessments conducted by School Psychologists, School Social Workers and other CSE staff members and the resulting written reports.
  • Reviews assessment reports conducted by contracted agencies and independent evaluators
  • Assists staff members in improving performance.
  • Participates in the planning and completion of special projects, as needed.
  • Reviews and analyzes compliance reports and develops plans of action to complete work within compliance deadlines.
  • Participates in IEP meetings as necessary.

 

 

Qualification Requirements:

 

Minimum

 

Must currently possess or will possess by date of hire, New York State certification as a school district administrator (SDA) or school district leader (SDL); or the Administrator Certificate plus Superintendent extension.  Please Note: We do not accept internship certificates.

Preferred

 

  • Three (3) years of experience as a School Psychologist, including at least one (1) year in an educational setting.
  • At least one (1) year experience as a Supervisor of School Psychologists.
  • Knowledge of the continuum of services, Regulations of the Commissioner, Chancellor's Regulations, Jose P issues, mediation and Impartial Hearing process and SOPM.
  • Expert knowledge of IESP development.
  • Exemplary communication skills with parents, agencies and school personnel; and
  • Satisfactory rating.

 

 

 

Salary: $152,070 - $181,579
